Activism and Social Media

The cause that I choose to support is the ALS Association. ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and is commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease because of the famous baseball player that died from it. This cause is very important to me because my grandma is currently battling it.

The ALS Association does a great job using social media to share information with people recently diagnosed, families living with the disease, and caregivers. They share new research and provide links to local support groups. They promote events that rise money and awareness, such as the Walk to Defeat ALS. They have a team challenge, corporate options, and family group for the race.

The association shares instructions on creative ways families can raise money through social media to help care for there loved ones. They also share information about local community support. There is a daily blog posted by health professionals and social workers with advice.
